Woohoo! The quilt top is done! Oh, I love it when a plan comes together. It looks exactly the way I pictured it.
Now to decide on a backing. I'm considering either a solid or a subtle pattern (stripes?) I think it would look good with a natural linen for the backing, but linen can stretch a bit when you're working with it, and I can't decide if I really have the patience to deal with that. I plan on using quilter's spray adhesive to hold the quilt pieces together while I machine quilt it, so maybe having the cotton batting adhered to the linen would help stabilize it a little? Or maybe I should just walk toward the light and try to find a nice natural-colored Kona cotton. That might be the best plan.
This is obviously going to require a trip to the fabric store. Simply can't be helped. And if fabric for a few other projects happens to jump into the cart, well, that's the inherent risk of the fabric store. And in making things. Because whenever I make one thing my mind starts whizzing along with ideas for all the other things I can make (sort of like sitting at one meal and planning the next - you do that too, right?)
Oh, the possibilities!
