This blog began as a way to record my days as a mother and wife, and to share my family’s life stories with far-away friends and family. At it’s conception, it was rooted around our home – on Commonwealth Avenue – and what was happening in and around our four walls. But for me, the name “commonwealth” was always evocative of something larger, something shared and extraordinarily valuable – the beauty and richness of everyday life. So when we recently moved, I decided to keep the name to remind myself of the gifts I’ve been given, and to look for and share those gifts here.

Things I love: my family; old bookstores with creaky, wooden floors; strong coffee with hot milk and sugar; a fresh tin of peppermint Altoids; sleeping cats; dinner parties under twinkle lights; uncontrollable laughter; rainy Sundays; digging through boxes at flea markets; historical fiction; snappy retorts; warm sourdough bread with cold butter; candlelit gardens; wood smoke.
